What Exit Project

The What Exit Project is an ongoing photographic exploration of New Jersey through the 18 exits of the Turnpike. Rather than focusing on the road itself, the work looks outward—toward the communities, industries, and everyday lives that exist just beyond it.

Each exit reveals a different version of place: from dense urban neighborhoods to ports, warehouses, suburbs, and small towns. Together, they form a portrait of a state often reduced to a single idea, but defined in reality by its complexity and diversity.
